Easter Was…

by Stefani on 23-March-2008

… a whirlwind!

I swear it was only just Valentine’s Day, and before I knew what happened it was time to think about Easter.

I love Easter, with all it’s big white lilies and gingham.

Little girls in gloves and hats. (at church that is, none of those here at Blue Yonder!)

The Pineapple Coconut Cake that Momo always made.

Momo's Easter Cake

Ten Commandments on the television, plastic eggs in the grass.

What's In This One?

Cousins trading “my bubble gum eggs for your chocolate eggs”

Hiding them all again, just for fun.

Stained fingers and the smell of vinegar.

Blank Canvases

… followed by deviled eggs, of course.

Flowers from the garden and a fresh clean cloth on the table.

The Calm

Sticky kisses and eating the ears first.

Ears First

Colored chicks toted ’round the yard in an enamel pan (Lord, be with them!)

You Know Those Old Ladies...

The shedding of brown and bulky, the blooming time.

Hope. Renewal. Celebrating the gift of life.

Just makes you wanna wear white, kick off your shoes and run in the grass doesn’t it?

Or maybe just take a little snooze in the sun 🙂

Happy Easter, Peeps!

I LOVE that last picture of the blue chick! Makes me want to scoop her up and snuggle!

Glad to hear your Easter was fun! We had a quiet day here of our own.

I’m all about the snooze in the sun. Your Easter sounds just delightful. Mine was spent sitting by the pool in the sun, which was delightful as well, in its own way. Happy Easter!

Awwww. I see some white feathers sprouting in! Glad to hear that your Easter was just as wonderful as could be.

I’m glad it was a good one. It does seem like Valentines was just a few days passed, though, doesn’t it?

Sarah March 24, 2008 at 6:19 am

Why yes, it does make me want to do that. If we had sun or grass yet! Silly early Easter.

Paige March 24, 2008 at 7:23 am

Your Easter sounds just as beautiful as it looks! (And oohhhh, to snooze in the sun. A gal from Minnesota can dream, can’t she??)

happy easter! there’s something so strange, yet so compelling about these bright chicks. will they become blue chickens? will their eggs be blue? (kidding, of couse.)

Julie @ Letter9 March 24, 2008 at 9:14 am

That list pic is AWESOME. Great shot. Love the sunshine on the grass and that blue!

what a lovely post — and that photo of the little blue chick is just precious. you have such a neat blog and i have enjoyed stumbling upon it. happy spring. 🙂

When my son saw your previous post about the chicks, that was it! He had to see the chicks in person and so we hauled him and his neighbor buddy to see them. I promised next year, after I have researched where to take a fully grown chicken, he can have one.

That fluffy blue chick enjoying the rays is so sweet.

Very well said! And the last pic of the blue chick just made me chuckle. Isn’t he/she a cute little thing!

Tine March 25, 2008 at 1:29 am

Oh I want that yummilooking cake! And the blue chicken is wonderfully cute!

Maureen March 25, 2008 at 3:07 pm

I just stumbled into your blog. I’m so glad I did. The photos on this post are just amazing. Especially the simple one of eggs, which I am sure was not all that simple. You have a great eye. I’ll be back. Thanks for sharing the joys of your Easter. Blessings on you and yours.
