Around the Next Corner

by Stefani on 20-June-2007

I went to Maui for my honeymoon.

It was magical. My new husband and I rented a Harley, and drove around the island one day. I remember thinking (other than, “please God don’t let me die on my honeymoon”) that each view was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. Then, we’d go around another corner and *gasp* “No, THIS is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

Sometimes, like is like that. You think you’ve got it pretty good, and then BAM, you have it even better.

After a fantastic visit to see my Granny, and a fun weekend with the cousins, I got the treat of treats today. My mom and I took a short drive to a little out of the way town and spent a day gabbing, treasure hunting, lunching and picture taking.

My mom is, hands down, the greatest mom. Mostly, because she is so very much like ME 🙂 She loves a good Pyrex score as much as I do. We brought home WAY more than either one of us is willing to own up to just yet.

She likes to take pictures of odd things that please her too.

She doesn’t mind doing a half sandwhich swap at lunch when I just can’t decide between to options that both sound so good, and even when her back is killing her and a glass of vino is calling, she’s game to walk down “just one more aisle” at the flea market. Good thing too, because that’s when I found the Tupperware Mecca!

Yep, my mom is the best.

Afterwards, I managed to get in a little work out, followed by a family swim, then my sweet husband picked up sushi so that I didn’t have to think about what on earth I was going to do for dinner.

Now pardon me, while I go and wash and fondle all of my Pyrex and Tupperware :-).

Your mom sounds amazing. She reminds me of my mom, who is an amazing photographer, sandwich sharer, and used to sell that Tupperware when I was a kid.

I just explained that “sandwich sharing concept thing” to my honey the other day. He looked at me like I was from outer space. My reply to him was that my sisters would understand. And you do too! I love pyrex and the tuperware reminds me of childhood. I have some pyrex bowls in the yellow, green, and blue of the era… the orange one broke. I gaurd them with my life cause they were my mom’s. Well… actually, I use them to prep just about every meal.

Maui… hmm. Here in my household there is a great honeymoon debate occurring. Where do we go on this vacation to end all vacations?

PS: Love that you have two Mollys posting a comment on your blog! 🙂

your mom sounds fun, i think our moms could actually hang out. but remember i am the one with the dad who works at a thriftstore… so he is pretty awesome too! vintage tupperware is the best, works wayyyyyy better than the new stuff, good job!
