And The Winner Is…

by Stefani on 16-September-2007

True to form, you guys amaze me.

Seriously, I don’t know whether to jump up and down with excitement, or hide in the closet. I mean, I knew there were lurkers, but holy stinking guacamole!!!! Who knew there were so many of you?

Now that you have come out into the open, you know who you are, I hope you will say hello more often. I’d like to get to know ya.

Beyond just the sheer number of you though, your “three words” were so full of wisdom, laughter, and love. Your words rang in my ears all weekend.

When I lamented the condition of my kitchen floor, I heard, “Let it go, ” and “Rock the baby.” and “Remember to smile.”

When another child was unkind to mine and I wanted to pinch his little head off, I heard, “Just be kind.” of course, “Go for it” and “Follow your heart.” might have worked too, but not for the good of those involved, in this case 🙂

When my guys were upset over losing their first ever TWO soccer games in ONE weekend, and I began to fret over whether it had been a good idea to go along with this whole team sports thing, I heard, “Think less, Momma,” and resolved to hang in there and see what lessons come of it. What good is victory if one has never tasted defeat, right?

When I passed the homeless woman that lives down the street and wondered, again, what can be done about her (for her), I heard, “Love heals all,” “Open your arms,” and “Think of others,” and resolved to find a way to help.

At this moment, after a full, and tough weekend, I’m thinking of the ones that inovled simple pleasures, like chocolate, creating, coffee and the dearest to my heart, “Chicken Fried Steak”. May I add, “Biscuit, Potatoes, Gravy?”:-)

Thank you all, for the gift of your thoughts and ideas. You made my weekend something akin to Christmas morning. So many unexpected surprises in my inbox!

So, without further delay, on to the winner. . .

As much as I’d like to shower you all with Texan and Japanese wonders, we have learned (have we not, soccer fans?) that there can be only one winner.

I used a random number generator to come up with the winning entry. I know, I know, I said, “put all your names in a hat and draw,” but that was before I knew how many amazing entries would turn up! I do hope you forgive me for taking this short cut.

And now, the prize goes to….

TRACY of Prickly Pear Bloom Congrats, Tracy. I will be in touch to finalize all the details!

Happy new week, everyone!

*edited to add….*

Thanks for writing all the comments. I tried to read through a bunch yesterday, but kids called and it took too much time. Your post today was perfect… I had warm fuzzies to fill me up. Thanks for your presence and your posts. You’re on your way to “famous” at this rate… giggle, giggle.

Tracy is so lucky!!

And wowy…I was quoted, I got all goosebumpy. I’m so corny…how’s that for three more words.

Tracy September 17, 2007 at 12:12 pm

holy moly! Excited!!

I loved this idea, by the way. What a wonderful way to celebrate, and I loved the follow up with all of the 3 words. Good stuff!

Well – how about three more words.

I am late.

🙂 Really, congrats on the blog anniversary and the exiciting travel news. I’m cracking up over your mama take on the long flight. Before kids we definitely would have been complaining about the long flight but now – the idea of that much time to sit, alone in quiet – oh my. So funny.

that video made me cry. and you lucky duck, going to japan! congrats to tracy!

Ack! I missed it. How lovely and generous of you. I loved the video. The kids and I found it very interesting as we just finshed listening to No Talking by Andrew Clements. They have a challenge going in the story, where you can only communicate with three words. It was very thought provoking. And silly at times! Thanks so much for your great blog!
