You might have guessed that we go on lots of walks and hikes.
For a while there I was carrying one big bag with all our snacks, collection jars, notepads, magnifying glasses, field guides… etc. Then I tried to make small bags for each of my guys.
Mostly, that meant that if we went on long walks I just ended up carrying one big bag and three small bags.
So I had this idea for some tough, manly pouches that they could wear on a belt.
Essentially, they're just little pockets with extra long tongues so that they can warp around the belt before they snap. It works out well because they don't alter the belt at all. You can snap them on for hiking or pop them off to go to Sunday school.
I just made one for each boy to see how it went, and they LOVE them. They wear them everywhere, stuffed full of essential bits like lip balm and florist wire
They have requested that I make two or three more for each boy so that they can wear them ammo belt style. I think our nature walks just got a whole lot easier for Mama!

Love this! Now, if only my boys could remember where they just put those belts. . .
that is awesome and super tough. I love it!
I LOVE this idea! So easy and practical!
awesome! i love this idea! i wouldn’t mind one for myself actually
those sure are some manly flames too!
this idea rocks!!!!!
very cool!
I love the idea. My two little ones (age 4 & 5) I think are finally approaching an age where they enjoy hiking, & letterboxing. I thing this summer I will introduce to them exploring nature. I can see them eating these pockets up! Thanks for the idea.
This is so cool. Love the size and the portability… plus it looks really rugged and manly…:0)
Awesome!
I am especially digging the contents, lipbalm and florist wire, those are essentials!!
As always, thanks for another inspiring idea
hmmmm. I think I see some of those in our future
Yes! And I think you just sent this mama running to her sewing machine.
I thought you might like that
I’ve been thinking of something similar to hold film canisters for collecting. You know like those belts that hold shot gun shells?
Cute…and anything that makes Mama’s life easier is totally worth the time!
What a good way to ‘trick’ them into carrying their own things!
These are the BEST man bags I’ve ever seen! I have 4 boys and think I just found a reason to actually buy the little dudes some belts….
Nice! Glad you don’t have to carry everything now…
Cool, these look great Stefani! My little ones have pouches that they like to carry all their stuff in too. I use a kind of key chain attachement which fits onto their belt hooks.
very cool!!!!!!!!!!
Another fantastic idea!
My 5 year old has just put dibs on one! (He happened to come in the room and look over my shoulder. Unbidden compliments are the best kind.)x
Fun idea! Don’t you love it when your work is appreciated?
I’m sooo going to make my little man, his own man bag. I just have to fix my sewing machine first!
A “girl” bag will soon follow as I love the convenience of storing things in front , just like a mama kangaroo.
So clever!
This is a great idea!
What do your boys do with florist wire?
Love the man bags — I’m always dragging along my college Jansport backpack when we take a walk in the woods.
Too smart!!! I bet those boys love them – I think my girl would love one! Purses and handbags are so cumbersome!
You’re a genius! I have always had a hard time figuring out what to make for the little boys in my life….this is perfect!
i love those- perfect for summer expeditions!
Have I told you lately that you are a genius?? I think you would make a small mint if you sold these on Etsy. Just thinking….
That fabric is just too cool for words! What boy could resist! Awesome idea!
I’m not the first, and I doubt I will be the last to say, but those are really cool! Loooove that idea. Especially as we are just starting to travel that includes walking. Hmmm… Think the hubby would wear one too??
This is one of the best ideas I’ve seen in a long time. My boys would love some man bags!
Now THAT would be cool. Similar to a crayon roll pattern, but shorter with
larger holes.
E
late to the party…i love this – its great. and i love the fabric – so very “fwamey”…
