I was so flattered and excited when the gals over at Sew, Mama Sew! asked if I’d make a quick little “pattern” for these shorts. Now that it’s up, I get a little giggly thinking about all the little legs that will soon be running around in bandanas!

The bandana pants pattern is more of a little cheat sheet – some notes scrawled from one friend to another, for you to print and keep by your sewing machine as you churn out those summer shorts. You can find it here.

What a great photo! The tire swing attracts me just as much as the marvelous pantsI didn’t get a chance to say how much I love the hankies and the cross-eyed photo. I laugh and laugh when I read your posts! I’ve even read the posts out loud to our family and we all get a good laugh. My kids love your chickens!

Well, I have been meaning to post for awhile to thank you for what my daughter has been calling our “Blue Yonder Summer”. My daughter wears your bandana pants almost daily, we have been going to “summer school” and enjoying the tranquility, and the novelty (we are homeschoolers too) and dining frequently on tomato pie. Thanks for a great summer.

I was just thinking about your bandanna pants, it has been so hot here and we hardly ever do heat! that my boys are sadly lacking in shorts..We’re sadly lacking in bandannas as well but not fabric…here’s to some shorts in the future and hurray for you and your SMS fame!

I already had my bandanas at the ready, and was so excited to come across the pdf! Woo hoo! I operate so much better with a cheat sheet right in front of me at all times. Now I am officially out of excuses for just making them already.
I don’t know what I did wrong, but I made the bandana pants about a month ago and they came out, how can I put this, um, like bizarre tight at the bottom and loose at the top clown pants! Ha. My daughter says she can wear them for halloween. Maybe I’ll try again with he new directions.

Congrats on the Bandana Pants success! That is exactly how I stumbled upon your wonderful blog over a year ago. You had such a great tutorial and attractive blog, that I was imediately hooked! Your pants are so contagoius and have been a favorite of our family and friends ever since. I have made several as baby gifts, birthday gifts and the like. They are so easy to coordinate with and match with siblings and tshirts. Thanks for such a great blog and being such a beautiful inspiration to all of us homeschooling mommies out there. Just wanted to thank you for the inspiration and the pattern for the bandana pants. I’m another person who followed the link from SewMamaSew, and am now a daily reader. Beautiful blog!
My 4-year-old loves to help me sew, and this afternoon we sat down with the perfect bandanas (red with puppy paw prints all over them) and made a pair together. The pictures on the cheat sheet made it more fun for him because he didn’t have to wait for me to read the directions out loud. He knew exactly what to do next.
Now if only I could get him to sit still long enough to model them!
