and all 30 fingers still intact.
I think I held my breath the entire time that they carved.
This is the first year they've had the idea that this is something they want to do themselves.
Must all this growing up happen every single stinking DAY?
They aren't yet so big as they think though. All three petered our after a few jabs and mom and dad took over.
In other news, we've managed to decide on and FINISH all three costumes without having spent more than about $6 (a bag of pony beads and a Goodwill hat).
A girl could be moved to faith in the Great Pumpkin with all these Halloween miracles!

Wonder what those boys will be. Surely you’ll post pics.
Happy Halloween, I love the traditional style, happy face jack-o-lanterns! Good job on the bargain costumes, too.
Love love love that last photo!
My little one still says “we don’t need Halloween, it’s not a good idea” and is still going as “just a boy, Mommy”, that is if we can even get him to leave the house. Tonight we carve at least my pumpkin – wonder if that will bring him around a bit?
they look great!
i like the cheapo pumpkin carving knives. they look so crazy flimsy and they’re not sharp -but because they’re serrated they are SO easy to use – go right through the pumpkin (but not your fingers).
(i think i spent about $7 -you beat me!)
Love the photo of his face glowing by the pumpkin. Might have to try that one myself. (If my “Jack” o lantern will cooperate! LOL)
You must have more patience than me… I couldn’t get a good photo of our pumpkins for anything! Cute!
Oh goodie! I love pumpkin carving. We are doing ours tonight.
what perfect pumpkins! they did an excellent job. and good job on the costumes! i’m impressed.
fantastic photos again, my friend! that last one……oooh, i just LOVE it! enjoy your revelry and way to go on the bottom line! i think we were lucky enough to keep our total under 10 bucks too! (not counting candy… that stuff is stinkin expensive!) the happiest of hauntings to the boys!
Mom mantra “Must Protect The Fingers” LOL.
Oooo! You have some booootiful photo’s.
love the last photo in particular too. We enjoyed carving too, my little one was the pro scooper in our house. Enjoy the holiday!
Gack! Big Scary knife!
We love the pumpkin pumpkin carving knives. They work great and my daughter has been using them to carve her own pumpkin since she was 5.
Phew, that first photo is the scariest! Good they were able to do some of it themselves. I was nervous the whole time my son was carving, too.
I am hoping we can get a pumpkin carved tomorrow. My two are not old enough to do their own carving, although my 3yr old son certainly thinks he is!
That last photo is rockin!
We still pumpkin paint. My girls wonder why anyone would carve… must be a boy/girl difference. What a fun post!
So cute! We carved our pumpkins tonight too.
my kiddos got to help a neighbor carve three pumpkins this afternoon, and when they got home they told me the neighbors are a safety family. i guess that means the neighbor didn’t let them wield any knives. me, i send my kids out on the porch with a pumpkin and carving set and say, “have fun!” they really blew me away this year with a very cool rocket ship blasting through space. have a happy halloween friend!
love that list pic, where your boy’s all glowy. : )
I’m waiting for the day when my boys will begin exerting their independence…with a mixture of anticipation and dread!
okay, that last picture is STELLAR! and those are some of the cutest happiest carved punkins i’ve ever seen! =)
Great lanterns.
Excellent work boys!
Yes, I love the last photo too! Hope you survived Halloween.
So cute!!! I love that you turn everything into a chance to reflect, Stefani. You are the most thoughtful mama I know!
