The Happy Post

by Stefani on 26-June-2009

… in which I say nothing at all about the fact that I think I actually heard my skin sizzle yesterday…

So what's making me happy these days???

1. I get to go pick up my boy from camp this evening. I'm going to try, really I am, not to embarrass the livin' crud out of him by swooping him up and crying and slobbering all over him. I'm going to soak in all his stories and then I'm going to tell him that I'm so glad he had a memorable time because he's never, EVER going to camp again. No, not ever. Scratch college from the list too. Nope. Not going.

2. The little campers that stayed home. First the middle boy spent the night at the cousin's house, then the cousins came here while boy number three had his first sleepover at Grandmother's house.

(He was even MORE full of swagger than usual over his big sleepover-ness. I think he rather enjoyed being the center of attention and  having the mac and cheese all to himself.)

THEN two of mine + one cousin were HERE for a sleepover. Oh my. There was Pokemon trading (I don't even try to understand this), a visit to the Children's museum, popcorn and ice cream, late movies, a water park, tree climbing, a cicada skin hunt and oh so much more. Camp Goofball (as they named it) was a raging success, evidenced by some very happy but very tired campers.

Worn Out

3. This cake that we had last night to celebrate my Dad's birtday. I love you Dad, Happy Birthday. And… Ms. Paula, I am your devoted follower. No one can work a stick of butter and a pound of cream cheese the way that you can. No one.

4. For Dawn

Two young lepidopterists, a whole country apart, finding wonder in the same very brightly colored winged thing. This is a Rosy Maple Moth. My butterfly and moth enthusiast was beside himself over it. He had been staring at it for some time in his Golden Guide to Butterflies and Moths and hoping to one day see one. So it was a very exciting day indeed when one fluttered into his life. As it turns out, sweet Dawn's little lady had her own brush with yellow and pink greatness.

And now, we're off to have lunch with yet more cousins and then make a big whoppin' "Welcome Home Brother" sign.

I hope your weekend if full of reasons to be happy too!

#1 made me laugh so hard… I would feel the same way! And there is nothing sweeter than the sight and sound of sleeping little boys.

Oh I hope my weekend is full of happy too. Lord knows I need it.

Yay! You get your boy back. Sounds like you’ve managed to keep yourself occupied to make the time pass. That’s a really neat moth. I’m starting to get into moths myself. Nevermind the kids, I want my own moth habitat.

I love your statement about no college. I feel the same way!

Please, oh pretty please, tell me where you found the pillowcase and comforter set. I adore it! Did you make it? If so, where did you find the happy fabric?

Kelly June 26, 2009 at 1:32 pm

I will echo the question of where you got your awesome comforter! It’s fantastic!

I’m glad your firstborn is making his way home today. I had butterflies just reading about it the other day. Have a wonderful weekend with all your boys under your roof!

You are too sweet!
It does make me feel a little better knowing there are others out there who comb over their guide books… mentally marking off those things they would love to see. 🙂
Happy your little man is coming home to you…
Have a great weekend!

Lia June 30, 2009 at 12:23 am

That’s just so cute! Specifically #1 and #4

Stefani June 30, 2009 at 6:45 am

Hi Catherine! They’re all over the place in our yard… on the bushes, the side of the house, the fence… you can read a post we did about them on our online nature journal, the Magnifying Glass, here: http://themagnifyingglass.typepad.com/weblog/2009/06/cicada-summer.html

Amy – Ikea! We got them in the fall, but not the last fall, the one before, so I’m not sure if they still carry them.

Stefani June 30, 2009 at 6:47 am

Hi Kelly! We got them at IKEA, but it’s been over a year 🙁

Yes, it was SO very nice to have all my babies sleeping under one roof. I think I finally exhaled!
