Summer Is :: Guest Blogging @ UncommonGrace

by Stefani on 13-August-2008

Hi y'all!

Today, I'm joining a host of remarkable women who are contributing to the "Summer Is" series over on UncommonGrace. Pop on over and check it out!

Believe me, Grace's summer series is just the thing that I've needed, to stave off the wave of whining that's been threatening to wash over these parts.

I have reached my melting point.

It has been over 100 degrees (F) here for 46 days this summer. My car's gauge said 106 today. I feel like a slug, heavy and slow, hoping only for a dark, cool, damp place in which to lie dormant until the leaves begin to fall.

Unfortunately, we won't have anything even approaching autumnal weather until around about October, so I will just have to do my very best to join Grace in celebrating the wonders of summer while it goes on for freaking forever

I will tell myself what I already know to be true: that this is the time, the time to savor and save up all that summer has to offer.

And really, if you can look past the hellish heat, it's pretty dang delicious 🙂

Summer Is :: For Savoring

Right there with you, my friend. I think you and I need a vacation to Maine. Or Montana. Or (insert moderate temperature destination here). Anywhere but where I am and you are.

I feel for ya. There is no way I could live somewhere that hot. You all are tough!

What is in the jars? It lookds very yummy!

Aunt LoLo August 13, 2008 at 9:24 pm

You’re one of those people that just seems to do everything BEAUTIFULLY. (At least that’s all you take pictures of!)

Hang in there – summer can only last so long…right?! (This is my first east coast summer – please tell me I’m right!)

I’m interested in how you made the fabric toppers for your jars. They look so nice–not grannyish at all!

lovely post over at uncommon grace! I immdeditaely saw it was you!! here in Holland you never know summer will be sunny or full of rain. We’re having cold and rainy days here for more than a week now…Maybe you can send us some sun before the long wet, dark and cold winter will start?

pretty jars! What’s the green one? I’m making jalepeno pepper jelly soon – is that what it looks like done?

Oh, I love this photo. The colors look so yummy. So simple, yet so beautiful.

Love the photo! Did you make all of these? And the cute little toppers. I blogged about the EXACT same thing today. Glad to see that it is actually 46 days. Thanks for the confirmation. 😉

Great summer photo. While it’s not over 100 here, September is often our hottest month, so fall won’t be here until mid October, too. About a month and a half after we want it! Hang in there!

Beautiful picture and there are so many things about summer to enjoy while it is here. Here in Nova Scotia Canada, summer is so fleeting! We had a nice and hot July but it has been cool and rainy all of August! Fall is gorgeous here and I am really looking forward to it but winter is sssoooo long! It is nice to have all the seasons though and summer, I will miss you!

I know the heat of which you speak. We have had a heat wave here, too. Our temps are probably an average of 5-ish degrees lower than yours, but I’ll tell you, when it’s 98, 99, and 102, I can’t really tell the difference. What I can tell is how much I want to curl up in a hole and stay there until October. Thanks again for your lovely post today! xoxox

I feel you with the heat! It has been hot here too…and at one point this summer, our ac went out. ugh!

Even though we are in this heat, I am truly thankful we have ac, friends with pools, and sprinklers to run in!

We have grey and plenty of rain here. I love those jars they look so vivid and all that preserving – so organised

Ooh, ooh, oooh! Your post gives me a gleam of hope! ‘Cause I, too, live in a place where it’s been 100 or over for more than 46 days this summer. I only just recently “met” you, so maybe all your other readers know the answer to this, but by any chance are you in central TX???

P.S. We’ve assumed until recently that the reason the hens weren’t laying was the heat. Not so, apparently.

What a pretty photo.
We need to swap countries for the weekend. I’ve had enough of the cold now!

Another Texas mother feels your pain….and hoping you’re not sharing in my joys of hot flashes!

Counting the days until August 25 and thanking you for the point toward Grace,

Is that a jar of mint or cilantro chutney?? Do pass on a recipe!

Summer here in Colorad has been eventful. A week of unbearable heat, then a week of rain, and it starts all over again. Lol.
