Rain Dance

by Stefani on 12-September-2009

Yesterday it turned grey and cool.

Last night we listened to the sound of rain against the windows. All. Night. Long.

There’s no sweeter lullaby to drought weary souls.

A Potful of Joy!

Right now, it’s 74 degrees (we’ve not seen temperatures like that, even at midnight, since what? May?) and my children are playing in the rain. It is as though the whole world just exhaled.

Soaking

I know that it’s not over, this drought. And I know that there will be more unbearable heat before it’s all over for the year.

Rain Play

But just this little bit of blessed cool rain… right now it feels like overflowing goodness.

I hope your weekend is overflowing with goodness too.

Thanks so much for all your well wishes. My crazy thumb is much better. It hurt like the dickens and I could barely move or touch it for about 24 hours and then it just went away. Strangest thing.

I’ll be back soon with the last installment in our homeschooling series!

In San Antonio, we’ve been getting rain for a couple of days. And the lovely temperature, please don’t say that they will soon go away.

so glad to hear your thumb is better, though what a mystery! we had two very brief rain showers this morning. i just love that smell. i had to rush out and take my clothes off the line. there’s certainly not enough to fill up a bucket, though. enjoy!

Oh my! I would be so grouchy if I hadn’t seen weather in the 70’s since May. So happy you got some relief! I really enjoy your blog and cannot wait for the Fall edition of the Book of Days to come out. I don’t have a printer at home so my husband gets it for us, prints it out and brings it home each time-it’s always unexpected and I just love it!

Hooray for the rain! There’s nothing like it when you’ve missed it for a long time. I hope that this is the first sign of cooler days ahead for you.

It is a lovely thing! We even made pumpkin bread yesterday!

can’t even believe that 74 is refreshing at this time of year because we have mostly been in the 60 and today it only got a little warmer than 74 here (25 C in Canada) and everyone pulled their shorts back on!

It’s been wonderful, hasn’t it?

Fabulous pictures — I can feel it!

Yeah, yeah, for the rain! Glad your thumb is better. Aging is full of mystery ailments.

So nice to see children enjoying rain. We get more than our share and it’s often hard to remember to enjoy it!

Glad for you that you have rain… glad for me that we’re in the cooler temperatures but still with the sun (Gabriola Island near Vancouver Island, BC, Canada).

I had a weird painful toe last month and the month before… two days of pain and then nothing?!! I still don’t know what it was but we’re speculating gout… although not likely being pre-menopausal. Doctor mentioned a cyst?? Anyway, good luck with your thumb!

Glad to hear your thumb is feeling better! It would be hard to have so much heat so I don’t blame you all for wanting to really enjoy the rain! I wish our summer could last a bit longer, we are fully into fall, cool temps and changing trees. I do love the colours we get in fall though, there’s beauty in every season.

I can’t wait to read more about your home school. As we plow through first grade, it seems to make more sense for me to keep them at home! I hate worksheets. And flash cards…

So glad to hear you feel better! We enjoyed rain here as well but not the cooler weather yet…
