Did you think I'd gotten lost?
No, I just got a bit of wanderlust. All this cool (for us) weather has made us itchy for the woods, so the boys and Jasper and I just decided to head 'em up and move 'em out.
We took a little trip down the road a piece to see our Granny.
We picnicked by the lake, rambled around the woods, gathered up pocketfuls of pretty leaves and acorns. We did our best to spoil Granny, and she did her best to spoil us right back.
Jasper won Granny's heart and the solemn scorn of all her kitties. He proved himself a worthy traveling companion, and did his part to contribute to the 4 pounds of red dirt now coating my back seat.
All in all, it was a very good week.
In the next couple of days I'm hoping to finish up a new Autumn edition of our Book of Days. A few of you have asked about it, so I wanted you to know that it's in the works and should be available in our shop real soon.
Once that's accomplished I hope to be back in this space with more regularity. I have so missed the meditative rhythm of ending the day with reflection here.
(In other words, pretty soon you'll be wishing I'd shut up already
Happy new week to you all!

Hope your time in the woods and with granny has been wonderful. Can’t wait to have you back, though. Been missing your wise voice.
I’m glad Jasper earned the cats’ scorn. That is exactly what any self-respecting dog SHOULD do.
Welcome back! Enjoy regaining your rhythm!
I actually was about to email you to make sure everything was OK! Glad you had a good trip.
goodness, you know how to make a girl laugh – enjoy the cool!
I can’t imagine wishing you’d shut up! Love your blog and glad to hear that Jasper is working out for your family. He’s a lucky dog.
Never! (would we tire of reading your voice)
