We rambled and roamed.
We saw trees that are different from ours, leaves whose shapes we did not know by heart, the way we know the ones on our everyday paths.
We saw things that needed an explanation…
things that held history for our family…
and things that took our breath away, imagining the lives that must have unfolded there.
We stayed awhile, and enjoyed a new, old, view.
And then we came home. We gathered ’round, remembered our journey, told our stories and made plans for the days to come.
It was good to get away.
And it is good to be home again.
