This is the pond where frogs sing ballads and stars take their moonlit swim.
These are the rocks that ripple the pond where frogs sing ballads and stars take their moonlit swim.
These are the boys that throw the rocks that ripple the pond where frogs sing ballads and stars take their moonlit swim.
This is the road through the tall swaying pines where travelled the boys who throw the rocks that ripple the pond where frogs sing ballads and stars take their moonlit swim.
These are the barren fields that seem to go on forever before you get to the road through the tall swaying pines where travelled the boys who throw the rocks that ripple the pond where frogs sing ballads and stars take their moonlit swim.
When next those boys travel down that road, those fields will be green and then white and then brown again.
The fields will change, true enough, but the tall pines will sway yet, the frogs will sing on, the stars will swim ’round the moon each night, and wherever rocks and boys may meet, there will be throwing and ripples in the pond.

is this pond very close to you? or are those barren fields really very far from home?
i would love to have a space like this so close…
Oh, I love that… Thank you.
woman. you blow me away every time.
this is the most amazing little story!
Great pictures, what a gorgeous day you had!! Always wonderful to see kiddos enjoying the sunshine n nature–always.

That last photograph is stunning! Those crisp, perfect reflections in the almost purple water. And the spurts of red thrown in from the boys’ jumpers. Though the boys themselves are still and reflective.
Thanks for your lovely story, about a beautiful day.
Oh, this post makes me so happy and so anxious to move. We have plans to be on our own 10 acres, next to a giant frog pond!!
Look at your sweet boys having so much fun. They’re lucky young men to have such a beautiful spot.
you’re going to make that into a story book for your boys, aren’t you? i hope you are. you must.
Have you been reading Jump Frog, Jump?! I have been reading it ad infinitum and hands down your story here is waaaaaaaay better! The photographs are lovely. As always.
Are you sure your not a professional paid writer somewhere somehow? Cause I would pay good money to buy your stories/thoughts/words on paper.
What a lovely prose.
I got your package! It’s so deliciously lovely! Thank you! I didn’t think you’d forgotten, I just figured it would be a surprise! And it was! The fabric is my favorite part.

Pretty header.
Yep, I too loved the prose.
And the journey shot.
And the rocks shot.

What an amazing story! You should put it together page by page with the pictures for a little book.

It is so fun to see this same location at a different time of year – is it near your grandma’s? Love the rocks in your son’s shirt.
