Oh spring, you with your pink bloomy things, and your lady bugs and your bees with their yellow jodhpurs of pollen…
Oh how you inspire us!
We have no pink blooms in our own yard. And the killjoy
mama says we can't go 'round cutting branches off of our neighbors trees – no matter how pretty and pink they are.

So we made some.
First, we painted sheets of newspaper in three shades of pink (and some white too)
Then we cut them into little squares and wadded them up. We dabbed on a little glue and stuck them to fallen twigs from our yard.
We think they look pretty cheery on our table, and we also think that we're gonna have to make a lot more. We'd like to fill up every room with pink blooming things!
Plus, it's just a whole lot of fun to ask…
What's black and white and pink all over?
Why READ Buds, of course!

clever, and so cheerful!
So great – could you nick some pollen from the neighbours plants and sprinkle it on your paper flowers to see if the bees are attracted?
Ha, ha!!! That’s a good one! And you KNOW how red buds make me all homesick. Dang it.
Fun way to find saying ‘yes!’
ha ha- what fun! Blue Yonder boys strike again!
Great idea! I miss redbuds. (I guess I can’t give you permission to snip from my old yard…)
Oh!!! I love that idea! Thank you Gwen!

Yours are the first ones we notice every year! Seems like they bloom before anyone else’s on this street!

I love it. What a great idea, since we have freezing rain this morning. A perfect day to make our own spring.
that is beautiful. Maybe I could get little boy to help me work on something like that. . .
Beautiful! What a great idea!
I’m so jealous that spring has already arrived in some areas… we’re still under 3-4 feet of snow! Off to pout…
What a great idea! We might have to try that one out when we get home from the great white North! We will be needing a bit of spring color…
HA! Cute cute cute!
your pictures make me S M I L E
I *heart* redbuds! And what a project I would like to do with the kiddos!
So perfect for the spring table! I’ve been making lots of little birds that would love resting in a budded branch!
gorgeous! what a lovely idea.
fun! we may try our hand at forcing some read buds around here, too!
gorgeous inspiring photos. They made my day.
Clever! I think we need some of those around here, because pink buds on trees are still a long way off in the NorthEast. *sigh*
Oh, yeah! I think you just gave me a new art project for my classroom. I think we could write our recently composed haikus on little tags to hang along the branches. Thanks!
i like that craft idea!
Okay, you have to take a picture of that if you do it! I would love to see your class making our branches!
And we’ll have to make some haikus!

read buds? you are a genius! I couldn’t love this more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I do seem to recall some newspaper crafty genius from you too!
Red buds…oh they were one of my favorite things about living in east Texas. I loved driving and see them peeking out the edge of the woods in the sun in the spring. I think our house is in need of “read buds” here in Montana.
I did this today and love it! It will be my table centerpiece for a while! Thanks
we are so doing this this weekend. thank you.
