… it helps if he also likes to eat a lot of peanut butter.
The empty plastic jars make really nice “bug observation stations.”
I don’t think any amount of peanut butter eating can keep up with this fella though.

Ah. The love of bugs. I use to catch fireflies in an old green jar my dad found in our barn and set it next to my bed at night for a “nightlight.” When I had my last child and it turned out she would be the third girl and I would never have a boy, I silently mourned for not having a child destined to love bugs. Then it dawned on me. I am a girl and I love bugs. There is hope. My hope materialized (sorta) a year or so ago when my middle daughter started meticulously collecting the slugs on our front porch steps after a big rain! Slugs and bugs – the magic and innocence of being a kid!

Wow! So beautiful! I do hope he let it go again, though…
i too collected fireflies as a girl. seeing those bottles brings those memories rushing back, even the smell of those bugs on my hands.
