a) Help my son with his butterfly garden. (must plant the newly acquired milkweed and passion vine
b) Do SOMETHING about my closet and the stacks of papers and books and projects and art supplies and who knows what else in the school room.
c) Make something delicious in the kitchen. I feel like all encounters with my stovetop have been pretty blah lately… more along the lines of "hurry up and get something on the table" than "delight in the season's bounty" As I type that, I'm thinking I need to visit the farmer's market. Nothing inspires me to love our food more than shaking the hand that grew it.
d) Watch a good movie or read a good book, or maybe both. (No doubt it will be a selection from all the awesome ideas you guys provided to my post yesterday! Thank you!)
e) Have a little reunion with the sewing machine. It's been way too long!

My weekend list involves gardening, doing some knitting, and getting some reading time in. And not blog reading, books! Real, live, paper books.
Nothing like cracking open a new book…with more words than pictures in it
I used to be SUCH an avid reader. I had lists and lists of books that I had read and wanted to read, but I’m finding it harder and harder to curl up with a good book.

Oh, I have a supply closet desperately calling for my attention, too! But the garden, and the baking, and the kids, and the yarn are soooo much more fun…

I have a pile of books to light into. “The Creative Family” by Amanda Soule, “The Mother Trip” by Ariel Gore, and “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle” by Barbara Kingsolver are at the top of my list right now. They have all been sitting unopened on the shelf for far too long.
Oh! All excellent choices. I read AVM when it came out and found it so inspiring. Maybe it’s time I pulled it out again!

That’s quite a list! You’re going to be a busy mommy. Or at least a well entertained one, and anyway it’s nice to have choices!
We’re starting with a surprise (to me, just now) date out to dinner and a movie (together, at Alamo Drafthouse). Then, hubby wants to get some mulch and I want to make something different and yummy in the kitchen. And I want to finish a couple of books to review, one being The Creative Family mentioned above. That should keep us busy!
Oh, do tell us what book you end up reading. I just finished Hunger Games. It was un-put-down-able.

We too are working on a butterfly garden. We got some gorgeous butterfly houses made from gourds on etsy. Lots of stuff to do in the garden/play area outside this weekend. The weeds were allowed to run amok while I was in early pregnancy last year.
But I’m jealous of the reading and sewing you’re going to do. Happy for you, but jealous. With a 3 year old and a 5 month old (who isn’t napping well), the idea of reading a book or sewing seems like a fairy tale from a faraway land.
The Farmers Market is absolutely on the list. The Go Local challenge 2009 starts Monday, so I need to get my local meal in this weekend.
Yeah. The clutter is calling me too. But it’s a daily battle, isn’t it? I mean really. I cleaned it up just yesterday, didn’t I?
Oh well. There are worse things.
Hubby’s FIRST triathlon today! He’s been wanting to do one since he ran track in high school, so this is a big deal for him
The girls and I will be at the finish line to cheer him, wearing team shirts with a big picture of him “Swim Daddy Swim! Pedal Daddy pedal! Run Daddy Run!”
All those ‘to be’s’ sound wonderful. I don’t know if you’d be interested…but we are gathering up ‘sewed’ skirts, to be given to children in Costa Rica. My daughter, Bella, is traveling in July-it is called Sewing Seeds Project, headed up by Randi (I have to Say).
I’d love for you to join in the sewing/giving fun…if you have time.
Hoping to gather a great number, so the children who have so little will be blessed.

oh girl my list… well today we were in your neck of the woods at my mom’s storage getting cribs and other furniture. spent the day moving it all out here to the lake. tomorrow is church then painting the nursery.

A butterfly garden sounds marvelous. We’re just waiting for all of our little golden dragonflies to show up. They normally appear in June and swarms of them buzz around our yard and on our flowers.
We observed birds, butterflies AND wildflowers this past weekend. Photos going up all week…
We LOVE the Alamo Drafthouse. It’s got us completely spoiled.. no other movie theater will do! What no real food? No wine? No waiters? Primitive!
Well I had intended to read “Epitaph for a Peach” but it’s gone missing somewhere in my house
But now, I think I’m going to have to look into Hunger Games!

You know what? I saw that book ages ago and thought it looked and sounded right up my alley. Is it good?
Weeeell..they look lovely. But so far we haven’t had any butterflies take up residence. The flowers haven’t really bloomed up here yet so our butteryfly garden area isn’t particularly inviting at the moment. We are still hopeful and Huck checks often, which is almost enough fun, you know?
Exactly!! And who can get away long enough for dinner THEN a movie!
