… to decide what to do with these apples. Applesauce? Apple Butter and Bread? Apple Cake?
… to trade in these pajamas for something more presentable. Is it bad that I dress, take the dog for a walk and then come home and get right back into my pajamas?
… to clean the bathrooms and mop the floor, because today, today I'm going to come when they say, "mama come look at (read/play/watch) this," and I'm not even going to say, "just a minute" first.
… to be able to pass an open window without pausing and smiling and breathing deeply of the cool autumn goodness. It must be a full 30 degrees cooler right now than it was yesterday!
… to flip through this stack of old magazines and put sticky notes on all the best fall recipes. What are your favorites?
… to assemble an autumn soundtrack. Just because. This time of year I feel like I need some Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Coltrane, something warm and rich. What are you listening to?
… to reacquaint myself with my camera. We've been missing each other.
… to make good use of my spanking new black drawing pen.
… to hug enough, hold enough, listen enough.
It might take me all day, or even all weekend, and that's good enough for me.
Have a great one y'all!

On the first autumnal day here, I made pulled pork, and roasted butternut squash soup (on myrecipes.com).
mmmm… two tastes that I have long missed! They will both have to go on the menu!
Heck, I’d stay in my pajamas even for the dog walk!
Love your list!
Have a great weekend..I hope you find time for it all.
hey, i think you are doing GREAT to change out of your pj’s to walk the dog(you beat me!)today i am making lunch and cleaning up the kitchen while listening to Patsy Cline.
Ray LaMontagne is my go-to music man in the fall…:)
My friends and I created this fall music mix this fall…

I would love to hear what you come up with. Enjoy your day!
I love my pajamas. Stay in them always. No judgment here. Next about all those apples. Heather over at Shivaya Naturals has the greatest slow cooker applebutter. It is to die for. As for the rest…I’m glad you are enjoying autumn. Isn’t it great? Have a great weekend.
Mmm…enjoy those apples! I just pulled Great-Grandma Susie’s apple cake out of the oven, and have a bushel’s-worth of apples milled fine and stewing down in the crockpot for apple butter…welcome to Fall!
Have a great weekend
we are loving ‘the shins’ right now…also ‘iron and wine’ is hard to beat. have you ever heard the soundtrack from the movie ‘dan in real life’? all the music is by sondre lerche and it’s wonderful. if you punch in any of these guys on pandora, you might just find the perfect radio station/mix for the season! Enjoy your weekend!
I SOOOO needed to read all of that today! Thanks!
I often think that my most uttered phrase as a mom is, “Just a minute.” Wouldn’t it be nice to have a day completely free of that saying? Did yours work?
What a beautiful, “feel good” post. Thank you for reminding me that it’s ok to take all day when it comes to things like that!
Discovered The Low Anthem this summer. Love “(Don’t) Tremble” and “Ohio”
And thanks for all the other music suggestions. I feel stuck sometimes and feel that I might be missing out on something really cool, but I don’t know how to find that just-right music.
I like your list for today!
I hope it takes all weekend – what a wonderful weekend this will be for all of you! I have 12 beautiful Fuji apples that I need to find a purpose for this weekend too…
george winston’s autumn album. my boys fall asleep to this.
We’ve had that album and repeat around here, too. I have to get my fill before I pull out December.
