Making Tracks

by Stefani on 24-October-2008

Good Friday Morning Y'all! Only a moment to stop in and remind you to sign up for the contest if you haven't already.

My men are pushing my slow to wake up self out the door this morning for a little sleuthing.

Ever since my guys found deer tracks a while back, they've been itchin' to make casts of them, and to see if they can't find more animal tracks too.

Deer Tracks

So today, we're going to hit the trail with little bags of plaster and our new (old) trusty animal tracking guide

Of course we're also going to take along some essential tracker supplies like banana bread, apples, and peanut butter just in case we give up the hunt and decide to make it a picnic instead 🙂

Hopefully we'll have some casts to show and tell soon though.

Until tomorrow then, when I'll be back to announce the winners, have a wonderful journey wherever your day's path takes you!

Oh, that’s fabulous! Around here, the deer are in rut. They are EVERYWHERE. We were at my sissy-in-law’s farm last weekend, and I swear, they were coming almost up to the deck. Even with the dogs there!

LOVE LOVE LOVE that butter dish! If I weren’t hooked on my Butter Bell, I’d be desperate for it!

Hope your weekend is wonderful!

I love your blog. I don’t remember how I found you, but I wanted to let you know that I enjoy your update and LOVE your photos. 🙂

That’s so funny, my son and I were talking about that last night. I was going to do a little research and figure out a good place to go nearby to look for tracks. Then I was going to figure out how to make plaster casts. I hope you post your results! It sounds like the perfect way to spend a day.

I wanna come animal tracking too! It always sounds like so much fun, the things you do. I aspire to a life like that. What is your secret?

Banana bread is certainly essential!

I love the tracking and taking the plaster to get casts and the little trekkers picnic.

That looks like so much fun to me!My son used to love to explore like that with me- my daughter isn’t so thrilled about it. I am working on her though- we are making a “nature journal”, so maybe I can draw her in with art…. Ok, and I get excited with the bringing pumpkin butter and snacks- can you tell I am on a small diet? haha- I call it the preventative diet- it will prevent me from really needing to go on a diet, if I can take care of this 5 lbs now instead of letting it grow to 15 lbs!
