Knock on the nearest wood-like substance, my computer is now humming along. The trust between us has been broken though. I’m speaking sweetly to her, typing on egg shells, certain that at any moment she will turn on me again.
Only time will tell if my love is fickle.
First and foremost, thank you, to all who have agreed to participate in the book swap. I will be looking over the list this evening and doing my best to make match ups and email all of you soon, with the name and contact information of your swap partner. More on that will come.
In other news, I’ve noticed a strange phenomenon since beginning to teach Sunday school to tweens. (I call them tweiners, and they hate that. That’s why I do it.) Girls these days do not go for the same sorts of guys that we did in my day. We thought that the “All American”, chiseled chin, gelled hair, letter jacket types were “fine.” Now though, it seems that dorky is hot. I was a girl before my time, I guess. I was dorky when dorky wasn’t cool. Let this be a lesson to all you girls in the back row, hiding behind your pocket sized “Complete Works of Edna St. Vincent Millay” You too can one day be nominated for Hottest Mommy Blogger.
I really have no idea what that means, and have a hard time saying it without collapsing into a side clutching heap of laughter, but it’s fun. It’s really, really fun.
I’m not going to question it. I’m not going to try to understand it. I’m just going to smile and wave. Smile. And wave… maybe from a convertible… with a sash… and a bouquet of roses… and a tiara.
I’m also really gobsmacked (such a great word) to be mentioned in the “Best Photography Blog” category. You know, I kinda always made fun of those earnest young starlets who talked about how it was “such an honor” just to be nominated, just to be “considered alongside such amazing actresses”. It’s true though. To get a little mention among some truly magnificent photographers. to be invited to the party, is sweet indeed.
So, thanks for the nominations, Aimee! I’ve got my badges over in the side bar, and as completely devoid of dignity as it seems, I’m going to parade about and wear them proudly because, well, it’s not all that often that I get to proclaim myself either “hot” or a “photographer”. Why not make hay while the sun shines, right?
I tell all this to you guys, not to elicit your votes (really, I’m not hoping to win – though, if there’s a gold statue/trophy, a chance to say, “Yes, I’m wearing Chanel this evening”, and to give a politically charged acceptance speech, that could be cool…). I’m telling you, so that you’ll go and nominate some of your favorite bloggers. It’ll make them smile. It will give them no end of fun while they are insisting their families address them as “nominee” and practicing their red carpet smiles. Spread the love. Spread the smiles. Go and nominate.
Speaking of smiles… highs in the upper 60s today. Sunshine and blue sky all around.
My neck is going to get a crick from all the looking up and grinning that I’ve been doing! I have to check, every few minutes, to make sure that all that blue is really still there.
Ever get the feeling that those circling birds, darting from grey cloud banks to blue open sky, are thinking, “poor pitiful humans, stuck to the ground on a day such as this!”
Hope your skies are blue too!
