My resident Rube Goldberg watched this video exactly 27 times before turning to me with a maniacal grin and saying, “where’s the duct tape?”
My house, and my boy, might never be the same.
The song is from the new album “Of the Blue Colour of the Sky” by Ok Go The video was filmed in a two story warehouse, in Los Angeles. The “machine” was designed and built by the band, along with members of Syyn Labs over the course of several months. Syyn Labs calls themselves “a group of creative engineers who twist together art and technology. We build gizmos, whatzits, and interactive installations that encourage strangers to play together by lowering social barriers.”
Based solely on this description and their amazing machine, Syyn Labs now ranks WAY up there on my guy’s “cool places I’d like to work someday” list. They’re right behind Lucas Arts and Legoland. Oh, and if OK Go is looking for an almost 8 year old guitar player, he’s so in!

Outstanding video! Thanks for posting this- my son Owen has done a few Rube Goldberg type contraptions but this is is just awesome :0) He’s nine and pretty sure he would like to work at Legoland too…. LOL.

We’ve been watching the “Wild China” series on netflix and now they all three want to grow up and move away to China. Good grief.
I just showed my son. We had to watch it 5 times and go back so he could analyze each step. Too fun! How do you keep up with all their interests? Right now we’re making cowboy clothes and learning about the rodeo, trying to learn how to make a boat (a passion for a while that I just can’t seem to find much info on), and now this, and that’s just one of my kids!
This is so great. I’ll show my guy when he gets home. thanks to Myth busters we currently have a sailboat in our basement being made of duct tape. He’s planning to let her sail in the lake May 1st. I’ll be in the dingy next to him. I don’t know if this will pass or the projects are going to get bigger. At least there wasn’t dumpster diving on this latest project. It’s so stinky sometimes. My 3 1/2 year old son and I found this the other day. LOVE IT. We were spotting the train tracks and parts of the quadrilla marble run we have in it….I like how it starts small and then the parts all get bigger and bigger. It’s great stuff.

We have a family friend who dreamed of plutonium in his youth & now works with a compnay that works with NASA. He designs stuff that gets attached to rockets & sent to space. And then he gets pictures OF HIS STUFF IN SPACE.
That’s pretty rad, if you ask me.
