I'm not sure there's anything cozier than waking up to icy white rooftops,
or any sweeter balm for a homeschool mama's worrisome mind, than watching her little ones fall in love with reading.
My middle man has just finished his second chapter book.
My oldest has lost count of how many he's read.
And oh how that does my heart good!
It does my heart good too, to watch my men's love for their new little cousin already sprouting.
And to be able to introduce him to you!
This is Collin.
Isn't he grand?
He stopped by this morning to sit by our fire and warm us all, top to toe, with his funny faces and mewling sounds.
In celebration of winter, and ice, and fires and reading and sweet new life, we've decided to give away a copy of one of our favorite winter reads:
This book is pure magic, and it could be yours!
Leave a comment before 11:59PM Friday night to be entered in the drawing. I'll make a visit to the great and powerful random number generator, then announce a winner on Saturday morning.

He is grand. And I know what you mean about the boys and reading. I thought my oldest wasn’t going to get there and now you can’t keep him out of a book. I’m starting to see the signs of interest in my youngest. Soooo exciting. Count me in on your giveaway.
oh my what a wonderful giveaway for winter. i would love to share this with all my kids.
xo here’s hoping…
He is so tiny! Every time I see a new baby I think, “Humans come that small?”
What a fantastic book for frosty nights – we don’t get too many of those in Houston, but we love to hope that we might.
What a cute lil guy!
wow- he is so tiny and so beautiful….
Such a handsome little man! I am enjoying reading chapter books to my 5yo now. The day will come too soon when he is reading them himself! Congrats!
Welcome, Collin! Oh, he is just beautiful.
We have that book as well (so no need to include my name in the drawing) and it really is quite beautiful. It is really my daughter’s first non-nursery-rhyme poem, and what a great introduction to poetry!
Ahhh! So cute! I want to be by that toasty fire reading today.
I’m in! Quilts, crackling fire, camo pjs, and sweet baby cousins ~ I am sooo in!!
What a beautiful little man! Babies are so wonderful, and snow is so magical. We don’t get snow much around here, but of course we love it! (as long as we don’t HAVE to go anywhere in it!)
Love all the “guys” by the fire …cozy. Would love to read that book by my fire.
Hello beautiful boy! Welcome!
The developing love of reading is so great. I even love it when she reads instead of doing pretty much anything else. And when I ask her to do the necessary task – say getting dressed – she cries out “but Mom!! Don’t you understand that the only important thing is reading?” Not quite true, my sweet, but very close. Very close indeed.
Thanks for sharing sweet photos of Collin with us-newborns’ faces are so expressive, aren’t they? What a cozy spot to read–my oldest is devouring the Magic Tree House books right now too.
Thanks for a lovely giveaway–we are definitely in the midst of winter here already.
Put me in!
Your house looks cozy and warm.
That was the very first poem I ever memorized. I was 5 years old and would recite it to any one who acted remotely interested! I would love that book for my boys! Randomly pick me
I love Robert Frost – please enter me in your contest.
Love your cozy fire pictures.
Count me in!
Add me to the list of contenders, please!
I love that shot of your son reading in front of the fireplace.
what a cute teeniny boy! The wonder of babies… endless.
I sure wish it were fire weather down here.. and that we had a fireplace. More reasons to miss Texas!
Oh, this is one of my absolute favorite poems. What a lovely looking book! And what lovely little bookworms you have!
wow, that little one makes my heart melt too! The book sounds lovey too.
Oh what a wonderful story! I have all of our winter and Christmas books out in a little basket. I love reading ALL of them to my little one each night cuddled up under a blanket…and my two older ones seem to manage to wiggle under there too to hear those stories they have been listening to for years now.
I think that Collin us just precious. Is his neck sugar any good? I bet it is. I’m happy that your kids love to read. I have two that would eat a book, but I have one who could care less and it so stressful to try to get him to read. And he struggles so badly, it hurts to hear him read sometimes.
Ohhh…our littlest is only 13 weeks, and yet he still looks so impossibly tiny. They grow so fast, and are so precious.
I was just checking in to see if you got any of that snow that we are DESPERATELY hoping to see this afternoon on the FloraBama Gulf Coast. If you got some, maybe there’s hope here!
Would be ever so glad to win a book!
oh miller would love that book!
Lots of good stuff going on in your neck of the woods. I love the reading shots- with breakfast and by the fire.
I’d love to be entered in your give away.
What cozy pictures – and what a precious little baby too! I love it when I see my kids reading too – just warms the heart!
Aw, thanks for the baby fix
My little man is learning to read, and now enjoys having a chapter book read to him. We’re driving to Texas next week (gulp) so there will be lots of chapter book reading aloud in the car!
Thanks for the lovely blog reading. And a great book to give away, too.
I love new babies and chapter books myself! And today, I made my first loaf of Blue Yonder Daily Bread, with the “help” of my two preschoolers. It’s delicious! I happened upon your blog through a friend’s blog. What an inspiration to me as my husband pray about homeschooling officially (beyond what we do here at home already!) come Fall 2010.
well, of COURSE i’d love a chance to win a book! and that DARLING little baby!!!! were ours EVER that small??? it’s incredible! and i LOVE, LOVE, BEYOND LOVE seeing your boys with those books. Cal is just going on 6 and only BEGINNING to read but i’m going to get those pictures someday, i’m sure. and his favorite books will be, like mine, covered in splatters of cereal milk and soup drippings because i just COULD NOT put them down! oh the WORLDS that await them all!!!!!!
What a little cutie. Love the reading pictures. Warms the heart.
A very handsome little guy. Babies are wonderful! The book looks fun.
Love your blog! One of my top 3.
And would love to share such a book w/ my littles
Anno
we’d love to cozy up in bed & read that together! –Nancy in NC
Okay, I only have one thing to say…Texas A&M????
Kidding, he’s adorable.
And that is one for my new favs this year.
Love the boys reading. Love the babe!
Hope I have a chance to love the book as well.
That’s a beautiful baby . . .and a beautiful book. My family is full of readers too. Thanks for sharing.
That little one is adorable!
Too cute little cousin!
My 5th child just started chapter books and it is still as exciting as when the 1st one began.
I once wrote a college paper on this great poem.
I did not know there was a childrens illustrated version.
Cozy blessings to you.
You forget about how little babies are when they’re new… just look at those hands.
(Don’t include me in the draw… the postage to Australia would be huge, and my kids are all too old for the book.)
What a beautiful boy! Many blessings to your family.
Amanda
I love Robert Frost and I love getting cozy and reading a book.

Beautiful pictures! It is so great when they learn to love reading.
Such sweetness. I understand about the reading. I think I would be very sad if my son didn’t love reading.
What a cute bunch of boys!
And thanks for entering me…
The baby is beautiful and your posts are always so lovely. Enter me for the giveway!
