Fiesta!

Just a few shots from a little jaunt to San Antonio that I had the immense pleasure of taking this past weekend.

I’m feeling completely filled up with by all the music, color, delicious food… all the laughter, relaxation and the friendship of two of the sweetest ladies that you could ever hope to know.

It was a like a long deep breath of fresh air and sunshine. A little girl time is awfully wonderful to a gal who lives in what amounts to the boys’ locker room.

I came home refreshed and smiling, but also feeling like it’s a real shame that I have lost all the Spanish that I once knew. So, since my return, we’ve cranked up the mambo music, eaten our fill of quesadillas and fumbled our way all over the Spanish language. The boys can now tell me, “El perrito es muy gordo, pero te amo mucho” (The little dog is very fat but I love him very much), “Quiero mas leche, por favor” (I’d like more milk please) and “Puedes besame mucho, mamacita!” (You can kiss me bunches, little mama!).

I mean really, that alone could take a man pretty far, don’t you think? 🙂

And oooooh! It’s almost time to celebrate Cinco De Mayo again! Here’s a peek at the little fiesta that we had last year. We’re totally going to have to break out the tissue paper again 🙂

Buenas dias, amigas!

I made your recipes and the little paper thingys last year! We had a blast!

I remember that! It was really fun to know that you guys were playing along.
I’ve got a serious craving for those wedding cookies, but I’m trying real hard NOT to make them. I know I’d just eat them all 🙂

Sounds awesome! I’m pretty jealous of your girl’s weekend away. Wish I could swing that one of these days! And we’re dying to get the kids down to SA. We actually had a trip booked, to stay at the Drury right on the Riverwalk but had to cancel for work reasons. We’ll get there pretty soon. Sounds like a great trip!!!

Oh that stinks! You guys definitely need to get down there. The whole time I was thinking how much I’d like to take the boys back. We took them a couple of years ago, and they loved it, but I think they’d appreciate it even more now.

And if it makes you feel any better, I think the last overnight girl time I had was um…. three years ago when I was at the retreat with YOU!

Oh yes, I remember eating conchas and drinking hot chocolate in San Antonio (in December) and watching a lady making tortillas inside one of the restaurants and listening to the mariachi bands. Good times!

Okay, now you’ve got me wanting to go BACK! Mexican hot chocolate! Mmmmm and freshly made tortillas… double MMMMMM!

Looks like a fun and colorful little escape. I have always wanted to get to San Antonio but haven’t made it there yet.

On a different note, I just discovered a great kids’ music blog and radio station: Gooney Bird Kids. This week’s music theme is “Texas” which made me think of you guys. Check it out: http://www.gooneybirdkids.com/

Can’t wait to see what you have planned for Cinco De Mayo.

Ooooh thank you! I can’t wait to check it out!

I LOVE SAT!!!!! When I worked, I went to SAT 2 – 4 times a year. The lump sum of my girls’ Spanish is to be able to count (C used to count at waiters in Mexican restaurants thinking she was conversing) and whatever tidbits of mixed-up Spanish that can be found in Skippyjohn Jones. I’m glad you had a good time!

Have you checked out spanishdict.com? The boys and I really enjoying going through the videos together. I’m sure we’re completely massacring the language, but we’re having and awfully fun time 🙂
