Embracing What Is

by Stefani on 24-September-2007

I decided it was time to dispense with the belly achiing and just ebmbrace the visitor that has overstayed her welcome.

I’m going to wrap my arms around Summer and enjoy her while she lasts.

So, in effort to make the best of the warm weather, we decided to spend the day at the lake.

Swimming and romping,

a little crafting (on a project that you’ll see more of later this week),

putting on “shadow shows” for each other, on a vintage sheet thrown over a low branch,

a little (pre) autumn reading,

and otherwise enjoying this time of year. Honestly, it really was perfect. We had the place all to ourselves, all day, with nothing but cicada sounds, geese and turkey vultures for company. It was warm enough to swim, and yet not miserably melting hot. it was exactly what we needed… a reminder to not get so caught up in what is next that we miss out on what wonders we already hold in our hands.

i am resolved to drink in all of this warmth and sunshine, while preparing myself for the next season, whenever she should choose to come calling.

Oh, and speaking of preparations. Check out the new, and growing, list of soup recipes from my favorite bloggers, over on the side bar, and here. Be sure to post your favorite soup on your own blog, and then let me know, so that I can add your page to the list. We might be picnicing now, but the crock pot is waiting in the wings 🙂

I feel like we’re doing the same thing now that it’s cool enough to be outside but still warm enough to swim. This is my favorite time of year. Your lake day looks amazing! And you know I love the embroidery.

I can’t wait to see the finished project. At least one of us can finish something.

Man, I still love the places you are able to go swimming. I’ll be on the next plane, k? 🙂

I can’t wait to see the finished embroidery project–it’s already looking adorable.

The fall library books are inspiring, too–we might have to make a trip to our local library this morning.

Speaking of swimming…we’ve hardly done any this summer…guess we’d better get a little more in before the chill I’ve been asking for finally arrives!

Oh, maybe I can get a soup recipe up this week. Maybe. I made some a few days back, but alas it is all been devoured by three hungry little munchkins. Great post as always!
